Contra Amsterdam
The Band is called MoKo Contraband and consists of Linus Eppinger on Guitar, Ron Cha on Piano, Moritz Koser on Bass and Xaver Hellmeier on Drums.
Linus Eppinger is a soulful jazz guitarist in the tradition of Wes Montgomery and George Benson. He lives in Amsterdam and leads his own quartet. As an educator, Linus teaches in the young talent program of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Ron Cha is a Pianist, Producer, Composer and Educator from Assam, India. Ron
has had a Western Classical Piano background for 15 years and then crossed over
to Jazz, RnB and Gospel music, eventually studying at Berklee College of Music. He
has toured America, Europe and Asia with various international musicians.
Xaver Hellmeier is a jazz drummer from Munich, Germany. He studied in Vienna and
New York under Joe Farnsworth and played with Jazz greats such as Vincent
Herring and Eric Alexander. Coming back from New York, Xaver‘s career quickly
picked up as he was starting to build a reputation as a gifted drummer deeply rooted
in the tradition of jazz.
Moritz Koser is a double bassist originally from Frankfurt, Germany. He studied
under Thomas Stabenow in Mannheim and has become a part of the Amsterdam as
well as the Frankfurt jazz scene. Paul Chambers is the only bassist that really
matters to him.
